The United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society was founded in 1984 to deepen the understanding, commitment, and support of United Way’s most generous and community-minded investors. Membership in the de Tocqueville Society is granted to individuals or families who contribute at least $10,000 annually to United Way.
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society of Southwest Alabama was chartered in 1991 by philanthropist and community volunteer Ann Delchamps.
Since its founding in 1991, there have been 69 members of de Tocqueville Society of Southwest Alabama, donating more than $7 million to the community
