Who We Are

United Way of Southwest Alabama fights for the health, education, financial stability, and access to life’s basic essentials for every person in every community we serve.

Our Work

We know that for many United Way is well known, but not well understood. That’s why we want to make sure you know what we do: we bring together donors, volunteers, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based, community leaders, government, experts, and those in need.

Our Mission

United Way of Southwest Alabama’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the community. We strengthen communities by focusing on uniting and mobilizing resources that make the fight for education, health, financial stability, and access to life’s basic essentials a win for every person in every community we serve.

Our Impact

Our Impact

By targeting solutions in identified high-need communities, UWSWA can change the trajectory for families, their communities, and ultimately the region as a whole. This will require us to be more proactive in advancing solutions, not simply responding to requests for funding, and must include setting forth and achieving relevant outcomes and performance indicators.

United we fight. United we win.

We are addressing the issues that are hard to face – and too hard to ignore. We need you to join the fight because United we fight. United we win. We have one life. To live better, we must Live United.

Get Involved, Make a Difference

Our communities are full of people who want to help and organizations in need of them. Our goal is to bring people and organizations together so we can all Live United!

Become a Volunteer

United Way mobilizes hundreds of volunteers in Southwest Alabama each year, including individuals and groups working to improve homes and neighborhoods, collect food, clothes and other essentials for those in need, or give their time to read to or tutor our at-risk children. We also organize group volunteer activities to provide excellent team-building activities for employers and organizations either on-site or off-site, while providing valuable service to those in need in our community.
