Randy Bumpers Joins the United Way as the 2020 Loaned Executive
United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) announced today that Randy Bumpers will be their 2020 Loaned Executive. While Randy is with UWSWA, he will work with the Community Impact team, the Resource Development team, and Marketing.
“I am very excited about joining the team at United Way Southwest Alabama,” Randy said. “My passion is connecting people to resources and giving them access that ultimately bridges gaps and fulfill the needs community.”
Randy is the Founder and Director of nonprofit Giving Access to the People (G.A.P.) Project. Its mission is to seek to enhance the quality of life for all youth. They do that through a host of innovative programs from co-curricular school partnerships to an immersive online learning community. The GAP Project co-host special events like Vision Board Parties and Community Conversations. They also offer on-demand professional development courses for teachers and school administrators.
Randy is also an Instructional Designer at the Innovation in Learning Center (ILC). There he also provides evaluative support for instructional systems while working toward is Masters of Science Industrial Design and Design Development at the University of South Alabama (USA). He graduated in 2018 from USA with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
In additional to Randy’s educational pursuits has been an Institutional Effectiveness Analyst at USA where he provided assessment support for the USA Quality Enhancement Plan as well as a student instructor and peer mentor where developed specialized course material for first year students.
Randy is originally from Jackson, Alabama and graduated from Jackson High School.
About The G.A.P. Project
Established in 2016, the project began as a co-curricular program for middle school students which teaches them the importance of making vision boards, saying affirmations, and being intentional about their career plans. Other workshops the project supports are financial literacy, personal wellness, personal leadership, and career exploration. With the help of donors and sponsorships, the project has reached hundreds of students through school partnerships, vision board socials, and our online learning community, Access Academy.
The GAP Project also offers professional development for educators and mentors.
