AM/NS Calvert Donated $20,000 to the United Way of Southwest Alabama for Holiday Relief

AM/NS Calvert donated $20,000 to the United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) to provide grants to partner agencies in Southwest Alabama. The AM/NS Calvert employees were unable to have their traditional holiday gathering due to Covid-19. They decided to use that allotment of money to give back to the community they love. Partner agencies applied to receive funding just in time for the holidays for food, utility assistance, rent/mortgage assistance, and/or Christmas gifts. The UWSWA Allocation Committee met Wednesday, December 16 to discuss and distribute the money requested. Eight agencies were awarded funds.

“We are grateful for the AM/NS Calvert’s generosity”, said UWSWA Vice President of Community Impact Trista Stout-Walker. “Their donation enables eight partner agencies to provide additional support spreading joy and ensuring essential services are available in our community”.

Funded agencies include:

  • Child Day Care Association,
  • Goodwill of the Gulf Coast,
  • Dumas Wesley Community Center,
  • Southwest Alabama RSVP (Thomasville),
  • Family Promise of Coastal Alabama,
  • The Arc of Southwest Alabama (Chatom),
  • United Cerebral Palsy Mobile,
  • Via Health, Fitness, and Enrichment Center.

“In the spirit of holiday giving, the AM/NS Calvert team decided to forgo annual holiday parties funded by the Company and donate on behalf of our team members to United Way, said AM/NS Calvert Communications & Corporate Responsibility Manager Brooke Dolbare. “This year especially, we wanted to take a different approach. We recognize that individuals in our community have felt the impacts of 2020 more significant than others. We appreciate the United Way team, quickly creating a path for their partner agencies to apply for the funds and distribute them to meet our community’s needs”.

Earlier this month, AM/NS Calvert donated 18 printers to the UWSWA. Three of the printers are for the UWSWA’s Disaster Operational Continuity Plan. The other fifteen will be donated to partner agencies.
