09.29.2020 – Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday issued her eighteenth supplemental emergency proclamation containing an amended Safer at Home Order that includes a statewide mask requirement. Individuals will be required to wear a mask or other facial covering when in public and in close contact with other people, as described in the order. This amended order extends until Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
On September 29, 2020 NBC 15 and IHeart Radio will be raising money for United Way of Baldwin County and United Way of Southwest Alabama in conjunction with WEAR and Cat Country who are raising money for United Way of West Florida.

The Regions Foundation, a nonprofit initiative of Regions Bank that supports community investments, on Monday announced a series of grants totaling $150,000 for organizations providing disaster relief in areas impacted by Hurricane Sally.
Southeastern retail chain Shoe Station donated $20,000 to United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA), which will designate the funds to provide meals to those on the Alabama Gulf Coast impacted by Hurricane Sally.
United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) announced Mary Clare Hagood as the new Manager of Donor Relations. She will work out of our downtown Mobile location and will utilize her background in community outreach and managing volunteers to build key partnerships throughout Mobile County.
UWSWA welcomes Bob Grip to our Board of Trustees. Bob is retired from Fox 10 after more than 34 years anchoring news. He is a member of the Alabama Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame, and, in 2019 was, inducted into National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Suncoast Silver Circle
When asked why he accepted the invitation to join the board, he said, “There is no better time to reach out and help each other than now. I always viewed my role as a journalist as one offering service to the community, which is also the role of the United Way of Southwest Alabama.”
UWSWA welcomes Regional Director for AT&T Alabama Glyn Agnew to our Board of Trustees. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Glyn’s focus at AT&T is on legislative and external affairs. When asked why he accepted the invitation to join the board he said, “I believe in United Way’s mission, advancing the common good.”
Mobile County Public Schools students will participate in remote learning during the first quarter of the 2020-21 school year using a variety of online resources through the district’s learning management system, Schoology. Students will be assigned the same classroom teachers they would have if we were in a traditional school setting. Those teachers will provide daily instruction, academic support, and intervention with a goal of helping all students be successful. Students will be expected to attend school daily, and we highly recommend that they follow a class schedule as if they were in a traditional school setting.
