United Way of Southwest Alabama and South Alabama Coalition of Nonprofits brings you a morning of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Becoming More Diverse, Equal, and Inclusive

By Trista Stout-Walker, UWSWA Vice President of Community Impact

United Way of Southwest Alabama strives to make our community a better place. UWSWA and our partners support and employ a diverse group of individuals. Diversity provides the opportunity to learn and understand cultures, traditions, experiences, barriers, and strengths that can be found in Southwest Alabama. The Community Impact team strives to grasp the pulse of Southwest Alabama. The past has highlighted the need and desire for continued exploration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

UWSWA’s Partner Agency Relations Committee is collaborating with the South Alabama Coalition of Nonprofits to explore diversity, equity and inclusion at a virtual event on Friday, March 5th. Dr. Joe’l Lewis Billingsley, Dr. Jamie Franco-Zamudio and Dr. Paul Frazier will serve on a panel to discuss DEI. The purpose of this training is to begin conversations with nonprofit agencies about amending or creating their agency’s DEI Policy; becoming more aware and inclusive of the people we serve, the people we hire and the volunteers that serve our agencies.
