September CI Blog - National Recovery Month

National Recovery Month

By Trista Stout-Walker, Vice President of Community Impact

Just like you, I am simply a person. A person who every morning prays for guidance, strength, health, and grace. Grace has been a lifesaver these past 18 months. Grace provides us with the ability to accept people where they are and offer support and kindness. Each of us has faced some form of adversity in our daily lives. For those suffering from addiction or depression, this is a daily struggle. This struggle may be hidden and paired with a feeling of hopelessness or loss.

As we celebrate September, I am highlighting National Recovery Month and our United Way of Southwest Alabama’s Partner Agencies like Home of Grace, Drug Education Council, The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama, Lifelines Counseling Services, Victory Health Partners, Franklin Primary Health, and AltaPointe Health. These agencies and other community nonprofits create our community’s safety net. The Safety Net is here to provide the support needed to overcome addiction. If you or someone you know needs recovery supports, please dial 2-1-1 or text or call 1-888-421-1266 to connect with local recovery experts.
