Coronavirus: FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card
Now more than ever it’s important for community members to adhere to their prescribed medications. FamilyWize, a program of the United Way, has become critically important during this public health crisis especially for families with diminished resources. The FamilyWize program is free and saved participants an average of 45 percent off of their prescription medications. Most FDA approved brand and generic prescription medications are covered.
FamilyWize helps to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities by increasing access to affordable prescription medications. Since 2008, FamilyWize and United Way of Southwest Alabama have helped our local community save more than $5 million on prescription medications.
FamilyWize is accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide and covering all FDA approved prescription medications. The FamilyWize card has no eligibility requirements and is available to anyone.
CVS and Walgreens are providing free delivery of prescription medications. When someone calls in to get a prescript filled or refilled, ask that the FamilyWize discount be applied by providing the pharmacy the following information that is on our card (info can also be found online). Since the program does not require registration, there is no need for them to physically show a card.

FamilyWize also provides individuals the opportunity to compare drug pricing before you chose your pharmacy.
If you have insurance you can still use FamilyWize. It can be used to obtain savings on prescription drugs that are excluded by your insurance plan or are not covered because you have exceeded your insurance plan’s maximum limits. In some instances, you might find that the FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card’s price is lower than your program’s co-payment amount. In addition, if your insurance plan does not offer you a drug card and you are reimbursed after each transaction, you may be able to use the FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card to lower your out-of-pocket expenses.
