Emerging Leaders’ Wine Down Raises $1,200 for Imagination Library
United Way’s Emerging Leaders held a wine tasting fundraiser benefiting the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Mobile County on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the History Museum of Mobile. The theme for the party was an ugly holiday sweater party. In total, the event raised $1,200 for the Imagination Library.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was designed to encourage reading to preschool children. Each month after a child is registered-up until their 5th birthday-a carefully selected, age-appropriate book is sent to the child’s home. There is no cost to the family; UWSWA provides the books free of charge. 100% of the funds raised at the Wine Down will go towards helping cover these costs.
Currently, children living in zip codes 36509, 36587, 36605, 36610, 36615, or 36617 are eligible. So far, this year, 100 new children have been registered in Mobile to receive free books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. To register your child, please click here!
