In 2019, United Way’s 2-1-1 Help Line continued to serve our communities by answering 12,420 calls, providing 9,416 referrals, and 1,300 follow-up calls.
During the 2020 tax season, the SAFE Coalition filed over 2,385 tax returns, which resulted in more than $3 million returned to the community through tax refunds and tax credits
Since 2019, community members spent more than 13,891 hours volunteering, generating an estimated $311,497 in economic impact. The volunteer hours were recorded through Volunteer Connect/South Services (13,402), Day of Caring (119), and AFFC (460).
The most recent funding cycle for the Emergency Food & Shelter Program brought a total of $150,566 back into Mobile and Washington counties to help people in need, and over $200,000 was given to these two counties from the CARES Act (COVID-19).
Approximately 6,377 children in Mobile and Choctaw counties were served by Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and together received 6,570 books in 2019
