Step Into Growth to Fulfill Our Mission
John Maxwell noted that “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” This quote sums up 2020 to me. Faced with a global pandemic, thirty named tropical storms, raging wild fires, economic uncertainty, civil unrest, and political chaos, “We have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety.” Abraham Maslow
The United Way of Southwest Alabama chose to step into growth to fulfill our mission to improve the quality of life in Southwest Alabama.
UWSWA has had to change how we operate on every level to provide vital services to enrich the lives in our community. We have raised funds for COVID 19 and for both Hurricane Sally and Hurricane Zeta and distributed those funds to our partner agencies, so that they could continue to fulfill their missions.
Because of the generosity of so many, UWSWA can provide hope and opportunity during this transformational period; UWSWA can provide stability during unstable times; and UWSWA can provide leadership to steer our partner agencies into a new era of creating a vibrant, healthy community.
