Emerging Leader Spotlight: Andrew Odom

Name: Andrew Odom

Company Name: Synovus Bank

Position: VP, Retail Market Manager

Alma Mater: The University of Alabama

Hometown: Semmes

Brief Summary About Who You Are:

My name is Andrew Odom and I have been an Emerging Leader for about 4 years. I was born and raised in Mobile while attending UMS-Wright. I graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in finance and immediately started my career in banking. I have been with Synovus Bank for 3 years serving as the Retail Market Manager while helping individuals and small to medium sized businesses achieve their financial goals. My wife, Kristin, and I are the parents of two wonderfully spirited boys who are continually our reasons why.

What does it mean to be an Emerging Leader?

It is such a great opportunity to give back a small piece of what the community has given. It is an opportunity to have a positive influence on others and provide small moments of hope where it may be most needed.

What is the key to networking?

It is important to move away from your comfort zone. Often we gravitate to those we know or are familiar with, but be intentional about introducing yourself to someone new and getting deeper into what they do and who they are.

Best advice you have ever received?

There is not a job out there that you are too good for. Hard work, determination, and dependability will always be noticed and lead to more opportunities.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I hope to be a role model for my boys, a devoted husband, a man of faith, a go-to advisor for banking, and someone who has made and will continue to make Mobile a better place and a desirable place for people to live. Hopefully that doesn’t look too different from today, but we can always get better!
