New Board Trustee Spotlight: H. Rudd Schultze

UWSWA welcomes Harold Rudd Schultze to our Board of Trustees. Rudd is the Division Marketing Manager at Alabama Power. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and has several certifications in energy management and efficiency.

When asked why he accepted the offer to the board, Rudd replied, “I have always believed that it’s not enough to just talk about making a difference. Rather, making a difference takes individual effort as part of a larger team. As a long-time resident of the area, I have supported UWSWA through volunteerism and financial contributions. I have served on a United Way agency board and understand the unique challenges that our agencies face as they work to serve their clients and provide meaningful opportunities for them to strive in this region.”

Rudd and his family enjoy spending time together in the area and go to the Grand Hotel Christmas Brunch every year as their own special family tradition. They also enjoy being outdoors in the woods and on the water. Rudd’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking and spending time on the water kayaking.

What does leadership mean to you?

Leadership means being a servant. A leader should set an example and look for ways to make a real difference, not by authority, but by action.

What do you want Southwest Alabama to look like?

Ideally, Southwest Alabama should be a place where everyone lives in a healthy community with access to good education, quality healthcare, resources for financial stability and essential services that help meet basic needs.  Southwest Alabama should be an area where all live a healthy productive lifestyle and are able to enjoy the many great things this area has to offer.
