Immerse yourself in the transformative experience of United Way of Southwest Alabama’s 30th Annual Day of Caring: A Symphony of Service. Scheduled from Wednesday, April 24, 2024, to Saturday, April 27, 2024, this event brings together diverse talents and collective efforts, much like different musical notes and instruments harmonizing to create something beautiful.

During this impactful initiative, volunteers will witness the power of their support as they engage in a range of projects. From painting and repairs to planting trees, preparing gardens for planting, and sorting food donations, volunteers will actively contribute to projects that our partner agencies may not have the resources or time to address throughout the year. This collaborative effort celebrates the diversity of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives that volunteers bring to the table, forming a symphony of service that echoes the unity within our community.

Beyond the hands-on contributions, volunteers will have the unique opportunity to hear the inspiring stories of individuals whose lives have been positively impacted by the work of these agencies. It’s a chance to connect on a personal level and understand the real-world effects of community service.

For more information, contact Lindsay Lum at 251-431-0108 or llum@uwswa.org. Organizations can also schedule an Individual Day of Caring for their teams. Ensure your team’s participation by submitting completed forms no later than Friday, March 15, 2024, to have your Team Name featured on the back of the event’s T-shirts. Keep in mind that due to increased production times, this deadline is non-negotiable.

In the spirit of flexibility, volunteers can choose to participate in half or full-day projects any day between April 24 and April 27. Additionally, a rain-out day has been scheduled for May 10, offering a contingency plan in case of inclement weather. Join us in creating a Symphony of Service, making the 30th Annual Day of Caring an unforgettable celebration of community and collaboration.

Make sure to mark your calendars for the Day of Caring Orientation on April 10th at Goodwill Easter Seals (2440 Gordon Smith Drive, 36617). Volunteer team leaders will have the opportunity to meet and review their projects with agency team coordinators, ensuring everyone understands expectations and the materials needed for a successful Day of Caring. This orientation is a crucial step in ensuring the seamless execution of projects, and your active participation is greatly appreciated.
