In the heart of United Way of Southwest Alabama’s footprint lies Choctaw County, home to 12,430 residents. In 2022, the UWSWA extended its helping hand to this vibrant community, providing a total of $15,600 in funding to nine esteemed partner agencies. These funds paved the way for crucial services, touching the lives of 3,078 individuals and making a significant impact.
On Tuesday, August 22nd at 5:30 p.m. at Ezell’s Fish Camp (776 Ezell Rd, Lavaca, 36904), UWSWA will celebrate the spirit of compassion and dedication exemplified by volunteers and community partners in Choctaw County. The event is generously sponsored by Georgia Pacific – Naheola Mill. We are honored to have the presence of former Senator Jeff Sessions, who will be sharing his insightful remarks during the event. Senator Sessions has been an influential advocate for various causes, and we look forward to hearing his thoughts on the importance of community engagement and volunteerism.
This special occasion aims to honor the outstanding servant leaders who have selflessly dedicated their time, skills, and resources towards making a positive impact within our beloved community. Without their unwavering support and commitment, the numerous initiatives and programs spearheaded by UWSWA would not have achieved such tremendous success. The Choctaw County Heart of Gold recipients are Reverend Douglas Chapman, Gilbertown Assembly of God; Sherman Faile, Southwest Alabama RSVP; Rebecca Lewis, Georgia Pacific; and Danny Roberts posthumously for his service to the Choctaw County Museum.
Additionally, UWSWA will recognize the outstanding contributions of esteemed organizations and individuals who played a pivotal role in UWSWA’s fundraising efforts.
West Alabama Bank will be recognize for hosting an outstanding campaign and Jess Allen for serving as the Outstanding Campaign Coordinator. Also, Hunt Refining Company is being honored as the Outstanding Community Partner.
Space is limited we kindly request that you RSVP by August 16 to confirm your attendance to https://volunteer.uwswa.org/event/detail/?event_id=94029 or by calling the UWSWA’s Clarke County Outreach center at 251.400.7770.
