United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) announced Lindsay Lum as a new New Outreach & Community Engagement Coordinator. In this position, Lindsay will coordinate volunteers and affinity groups, leadership development, company or agency sponsored programs, provide case management for UWSWA’s disaster services, and work with community organizations to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate community impact activities to ensure a successful, stronger Southwest Alabama.
After graduating from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), Lindsay returned to her hometown of Mobile to provide crisis counseling and resources to individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Katrina. This combination of addressing mental health needs and disaster response and recovery led Lindsay to discover her heart for service, and she has never looked back.
Lindsay is looking forward to getting out in the community to help meet the needs of community members in Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties. She is elated to be working for an organization that is truly working to #LIVEUNITED. According to Lindsay, “Most people have heard of United Way once, twice, or a hundred times in their lives, but not many people are fully aware of all the incredible programs and services that UWSWA and their 45 partner agencies offer.” She continues, “I am so honored to be part of a team that works daily to ensure everyone in our community has access to programs and organizations that can offer them connections and resources that help to make their lives more meaningful and full.”
When she is not working, Lindsay spends her time proudly serving as an executive member on the Mobile Azalea Trail Maid project with the Mobile Jaycees. She also enjoys volunteering with Communities of Transformation, reading, stealing hugs from her cats, and traveling as often as possible.
