United Way of Southwest Alabama is excited to announce a Free Book Distribution Day on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 9 AM to 2 PM at the United Way office, located at 218 St. Francis Street, Mobile, AL 36602.

Thanks to a generous donation from the UMS-Wright Preparatory School lower school library, a wide selection of books for grades K-6 will be available. Most of the books are hardback and in excellent condition, with many labeled with AR numbers for easy organization.

The event is open to partner agencies, schools, daycares, homeschoolers, educators, and the community offering an excellent opportunity to expand home and school libraries and support literacy programs. The only requirement is that the books be used to promote literacy and education—not for resale.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bags, boxes, or totes to carry the books they select. With such a wide selection available, there is something for everyone, from timeless favorites to hidden gems.

“We are thrilled to share these wonderful resources with our community,” said Lindsay Lum Director of Agency Relations and Community Engagement for the United Way of Southwest Alabama. “This is a chance to provide access to books that inspire and foster a love of learning in children.”
