De Tocqueville members commit to an annual contribution of $10,000 or more, joining a powerful network of United Way’s Tocqueville Society to address long-term solutions in four key impact areas: youth opportunity, financial security, healthy communities, and community resiliency.

Named after Alexis de Tocqueville, a 19th-century French Diplomat who admired North American society’s dedication to liberty, equality and the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor, this society upholds our community’s legacy of community resilience through support of the United Way.

Additionally, the de Tocqueville Society upholds a high standard of accountability, ensuring that every dollar donated is used effectively to benefit the community and its needs.

Your contribution to United Way uniquely supports a broad spectrum of needs with just one single pledge, impacting over 40 nonprofit partners and hundreds of health and human service programs. Last year alone, our investments positively affected 242,216 individuals across Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties, illustrating the wide-reaching effect of every dollar donated.

When you give to United Way, you join a community of like-minded individuals who are committed to transformational giving. As a donor, you gain access to both a national network of Tocqueville donors and the opportunity to build personal connections locally, enhancing your impact and expanding your philanthropic reach.

We honor your preference in giving. Donations can be designated to any 501(c)(3) organization of your choosing, including any of our 45 nonprofit partner agencies. Whether you want to support one specific cause or spread your support across multiple organizations or counties, we facilitate donations according to your wishes.

With a commitment to efficiency and transparency, United Way reinvests 82 cents of every dollar into local programs. Our partner agencies are annually evaluated by volunteers to ensure that your investment is not only preserved but is put to work effectively and wisely, guaranteeing the highest impact of your contributions.
