Heart of Gold Awards

United Way of Southwest Alabama / Heart of Gold Awards

The United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) presents the Heart of Gold Volunteer Awards annually to outstanding individuals and organizations in Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington Counties.

The Heart of Gold awards aim to honor individuals or organizations who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to helping improve the quality of life in Southwest Alabama. To be eligible, the nominee’s volunteer activities must benefit a nonprofit organization within Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, or Washington counties, and their service should connect to UWSWA through one of its programs or partner agencies.

Nominators must provide a brief description of their nominee’s volunteer activity in the past year and explain why it was outstanding and deserving of an award. They should also describe how the volunteer activity supports the furthering the UWSWA’s mission as well as the nominee’s impact on the community and/or individuals served. Additional information to support the nomination is optional.

The deadline to submit nominations is May 19, 2023. Nominators can access nomination forms at https://uwswa.org/heart-of-gold-awards. UWSWA employees are not eligible to participate as nominators or nominees. Nominees who won the award in the prior year are not eligible for consideration.
