We are pleased to welcome Kaylei Weaver as one of the newest interns at United Way of Southwest Alabama. A student at the University of South Alabama, Kaylei is majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. Originally, from Mobile, Alabama, she developed a strong sense of community that inspired her to pursue a future in public administration.
Kaylei is honored to be part of an organization that is committed to supporting and uplifting the community. She views her internship as a meaningful step toward earning a master’s degree in public administration and ultimately working in the public or nonprofit sector. Through this experience, Kaylei hopes to better understand how to give back and become both a stronger person and a more effective leader in public service.
With aspirations of contributing to programs and policies that benefit communities, Kaylei also dreams of traveling the world and exploring the natural environment—passions that reflect her desire to connect with people and places beyond her hometown.
When she’s not studying or working, you can find Kaylei reading a book with her cat by her side. One of her most cherished family traditions is gathering with loved ones during the holiday season to bake, wrap presents, watch movies, and shop together.
Kaylei believes the key to improving quality of life within a community lies in people coming together to support one another, even in tough times. Her favorite quote, by Jim Rohn, sums up her approach to life and service: “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
