United Way of Southwest Alabama proudly welcomes the 2024-25 Board of Trustees and announces the election of the organization’s new board officers. This esteemed group of community leaders brings a wealth of experience and dedication to furthering the mission of United Way.

Dr. Andi Kent, from the University of South Alabama (USA), has been elected as Chairman of the Board. Audra Harper of Harper Technology will serve as Vice Chair. Anna Goldman of Warren Averett continues role of Treasurer, while Joe Calagaz from Calagaz Printing has been appointed Secretary. Glyn Agnew with AT&T will continue as Community Impact Chair, Mark J. Burnett, Jr. will continue as Labor Chair, and Mahesh Batavia will serve as Immediate Past Chair.

In addition to the officers, UWSWA is excited to welcome three new members to the Board of Trustees:

  • Brett Allred, Georgia Pacific
  • Kandace Breeland, Publix Super Market at Bickley Station
  • Chris Esfeller, Regions Financial

“We are thrilled to have such a talented and dedicated group of individuals leading our Board of Trustees,” said Justine Bixler, United Way of Southwest Alabama President and CEO. “Their expertise and passion for community service will be invaluable as we continue to work towards our mission of improving lives and strengthening communities across Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties.”

The Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in guiding United Way’s strategic direction, ensuring financial accountability, and supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts. With the addition of the new officers and trustees, United Way is well-positioned to address the evolving needs of the community and drive positive change.
