Board Spotlight: Kandace Breeland, Publix Store Manager

Kandace Breeland, Store Manager at Publix, exemplifies leadership with a servant’s heart. As a passionate advocate for her community, she joined the United Way of Southwest Alabama Board of Trustees to support its mission of mobilizing the caring power of communities to improve lives. “I chose to join the Board because I believe in United Way’s mission. I’m committed to helping address critical needs in education, financial stability, health, and essentials, and to using my skills to enhance the impact of these efforts in our community,” she shares.

For Kandace, leadership means more than just guiding a team—it’s about fostering a positive environment where people feel inspired to grow and innovate. “Leadership, to me, means the ability to inspire and guide individuals towards a common vision. It involves qualities like integrity, empathy, and accountability. True leadership is about empowering others to reach their full potential.”

Kandace’s sense of community extends to her personal life as well. She and her fiancée, Madi, share their home with three lively dogs: Toby, a morkie who believes he’s a Great Dane, Maizie, an Aussie doodle, and Molly, a golden doodle. One of their favorite family traditions is hosting a crawfish boil at the start of crawfish season, bringing together friends and family.

When she’s not working, Kandace enjoys spending time with loved ones, relaxing, and pursuing personal interests. She envisions Southwest Alabama as a place where collaboration and compassion are at the forefront, helping all individuals, regardless of background, access the resources they need to thrive. “My goal is to help create an environment where everyone can prosper and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive community.”

United Way of Southwest Alabama is proud to have Kandace Breeland on the Board of Trustees, as she leads by example with a heart for service and a commitment to making a lasting impact in our region.
