Local Vendors Invited to Join United Way Day and Change Lives in Southwest Alabama

The United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) invites area vendors to participate in the fifth annual United Way Day, a two-day fundraiser and awareness campaign on June 9 and June 10, 2023. Led by the retail and service industries, United Way Day encourages people to shop, dine out, or treat themselves at participating merchants in Southwest Alabama, all while making a difference in their community.

UWSWA invites all area businesses to become a 2023 United Way Day Vendor by committing to donate to the UWSWA based on some component of their business sales. Examples include donating 10% of sales, donating $1 from each transaction or item purchased, or offering customers the option to round up their total for the United Way. Each vendor can customize its offer to fit its business and customers. A minimum donation of $20 is requested.

By becoming a United Way Day Vendor, businesses not only support local communities but also increase their visibility through promotional opportunities with UWSWA. Since its inception in 2018, United Way Day has raised over $84,116 for UWSWA and its 45 partner agencies.

This year, UWSWA aims to double the number of retail partners from last year’s 56 to support more local businesses and to increase donations. A full list of participating merchants and their offers are on the UWSWA website at https://uwswa.org/united-way-day.

To become a merchant or for more information about United Way Day, contact the United Way at 251.433.3624 or jbixler@uwswa.org.
