“Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!” – Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! United Way of Southwest Alabama’s Emerging Leaders have partnered with Educators Resource to provide school supplies for Goodwill Gulf Coast’s most recent class of preschool graduates.
On Monday, July 7th, members of the Emerging Leaders group are meeting at Goodwill Gulf Coast to pack individual backpacks and write letters of encouragement for the students and their families. Distribution is on Monday, July 22 at 10AM at Goodwill Gulf Coast Child Development Center (10 Westminster Way, Mobile 36608), the families of the Child Development Center graduates will collect their supplies, generously donated by Educators Resource and lovingly packed by a committed group of Emerging Leaders
Educators Resource donated a variety of essential school supplies to be shared with every single recent graduate of the Goodwill Child Development Center. Supplies included: washable markers, crayons, colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, pencil sharpeners, pencil grips, erasers, construction paper, glue sticks, and a clear backpack.
The Goodwill Gulf Coast Child Development Center offers a developmentally-appropriate learning environment for children of all abilities. Last year, 46 preschoolers graduated from the program and are preparing to enter the Mobile County Public School System as kindergarteners.
United Way’s Emerging Leaders are a dynamic community of young professionals aged 21-40, who are dedicated to creating positive change throughout Southwest Alabama. They focus on United Way’s four impact areas: youth opportunity, financial security, healthy communities, and community resilience. When discussing the future kindergarteners’ supply needs, the Emerging Leaders knew this was a project they wanted to support. Small acts like this build excitement and promise for the next generation of school children, paving the way for future successes.
Inspired by Goodwill’s mission, the commitment of the Emerging Leaders, and driven by their own dedication to providing quality school supplies to the community, Educators Resource stepped in to make this generous donation. Their contributions will ensure that each graduate has the tools they need to start their educational journey with confidence.
