As the Public Affairs & Communications leader for Georgia-Pacific, Brett Allred brings a wealth of experience and community commitment to the United Way of Southwest Alabama Board of Trustees. Representing the largest employer in Choctaw County and one of the largest in the five-county region, Brett’s decision to join the board stems from a desire to maximize his skills to serve the greater public and community.
When asked what leadership means to him, Brett shared, “Leadership is giving of yourself for the greater good of society, creating a mutual benefit where everyone gains from acts of generosity.”
Outside of work, Brett is an avid sports enthusiast, competitive golfer, and lifelong learner. When not on the golf course or learning something new, Brett enjoys spending time with his faith community and cherishing special family traditions.
A particularly heartfelt tradition is the letter Brett writes to his son, Riley, every year at 12:01 a.m. on July 28th—Riley’s birthday. Riley would have turned 24 this year, and even though he passed away in February, Brett continues this meaningful practice to honor his son’s memory.
Brett holds a BS in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from the University of Dallas. His commitment to Southwest Alabama is rooted in a belief that the community should reflect the desires and efforts of its citizens, and he looks forward to continuing to contribute to that vision.
“It is not what I want Southwest Alabama to look like that is important,” Brett emphasizes, “It is what the citizens who live and work here who make the community what it is.”
We are grateful to have Brett’s leadership and dedication on the United Way Board of Trustees.
