International Paper Pine Hill Mill (IP) continued its strong support of United Way of Southwest Alabama with its annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 26, at The Pines of Chatom. The tournament and related fundraising raised $63,704, including IP’s company match, to benefit United Way programs and partner agencies serving Clarke County.

 International Paper employees, vendors, business partners and golfers came together for the annual event, with support generated through tournament sponsorships, team registrations, individual donations and day of event fundraising.

 

“We are incredibly grateful to International Paper Pine Hill Mill and everyone who supported this tournament,” said Sierra Skipper, Manager of Regional Development and County Relations for United Way of Southwest Alabama. “International Paper’s employees and vendors show year after year how much can be accomplished when people come together for a common purpose. The $63,704 raised will stay in Clarke County, supporting programs and partner agencies that serve our neighbors throughout the community.”

 

The tournament also gave players several ways to add to the fundraising throughout the day, including mulligans, a team string and door prize drawings. A special raffle offered the winner a choice of a quail or duck hunting experience for four at Soggy Bottom Lodge in Linden, including lodging and meals.

 

International Paper Pine Hill Mill employees organize the tournament each year, working with vendors and other business partners to secure sponsorships, recruit teams and raise additional support for United Way.

United Way of Southwest Alabama works with programs and partner agencies throughout Clarke County to address needs in youth opportunity, healthy communities, financial security and community resiliency. United Way’s current network includes agencies serving Clarke County and the broader Southwest Alabama region.
