Please join us in welcoming Jennifer Susman, Chief Assistant District Attorney, to the United Way of Southwest Alabama Board of Trustees.

Jennifer brings a deep sense of purpose to her new role. “I believe in the mission of United Way and its ability to bring lasting, positive change to our community,” she says. “I am proud to be part of a collaborative effort that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and builds a more equitable and resilient region.”

Jennifer views leadership as a balance of integrity and collaboration—helping others recognize their strengths and working together toward shared goals. She brings this same spirit to both her professional life and community service.

A proud wife and mother, Jennifer and her husband Peter have two children, Pete (9) and Lucy (6). She cherishes their annual tradition of taking “first day of school” photos in the same spot each year. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and reading—ideally all at once.

Jennifer is passionate about community growth and opportunity. Her vision for Southwest Alabama is bold and forward-looking: “I would like it to be an epicenter of workforce development, culture, and opportunity.” We are honored to have her insight and leadership as part of our team.
