United Way of Southwest Alabama partnered with Westervelt Lumber, the event sponsor, and the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Alabama to host a successful Clarke County food distribution on December 12 that strengthened families across the community. The event took place at the Boys and Girls Club in Thomasville, where Feeding the Gulf Coast delivered nearly 6,000 pounds of food including fresh produce, canned goods, shelf stable items, chicken, and fish. Volunteers spent the day bagging, boxing, and distributing food to every household in line, ensuring that each family left with support they could count on. By the end of the event, 330 households received food boxes.
Community volunteers, Westervelt, Jackson Preparatory, Boys and Girls Club team members, and United Way staff worked side by side throughout the day to serve neighbors with care and steady commitment. International Paper Pine Hill Mill generously provided the boxes used for packing and distributing the food.
United Way of Southwest Alabama continues to focus on improving health and strengthening community resiliency, two of its key impact areas. This event shows the power of partnership and the difference it makes when the community comes together. United Is the Way.
