United Way of Southwest Alabama Community Crisis Fund

United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) has launched the Community Crisis Fund to bring the community together in support of families facing hunger and financial hardship. This fund will provide emergency financial assistance to local agencies that help families meet essential needs such as food, housing, healthcare, and childcare.

As the fund launches, United Way is contributing $10,000 to Feeding the Gulf Coast to strengthen food distribution efforts across Southwest Alabama and ensure families have reliable access to nutritious meals.

“Every day, families across our region work hard to make ends meet and build a better future for their children. Their resilience and dedication remind us what is possible when we come together to support one another,” said Justine Bixler, President & CEO of United Way of Southwest Alabama. “We don’t want anyone in our community to have to choose between providing food for their family, keeping a roof overhead, accessing vital healthcare or ensuring their children have quality childcare while they are at work.”

The Community Crisis Fund gives everyone in Southwest Alabama a way to get involved and help their neighbors during this challenging time. Donations will directly support emergency response and relief efforts throughout Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington Counties.

“We know many families are struggling. This investment in Feeding the Gulf Coast, coupled with the collective power of our business partners, civic leaders, and community coming together, allows us to move quickly to meet immediate needs while empowering our partners to serve more people across our region,” said Audra Harper, Chair of the United Way Board of Trustees.
