Join United Way of Southwest Alabama and Verizon for the first United Way & Verizon Disaster Preparedness Workshop on Tuesday, July 14, at the Tillman’s Corner Community Center. This free community workshop will bring together local emergency management professionals, first responders, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to provide practical information that helps families prepare before disaster strikes.

Attendees will learn how to create an emergency plan, prepare for severe weather, protect themselves from post disaster scams, and access trusted community resources before, during, and after an emergency. The workshop will also feature an interactive panel discussion, opportunities to speak directly with preparedness experts and exhibitors, complimentary lunch, free disaster preparedness kits, door prizes, and a chance to win a generator.
