United Way of Southwest Alabama is proud to highlight Linda H. Breedlove, retired Associate Publisher of The Thomasville Times and a dedicated member of the Clarke County Committee.
Linda spent much of her career in the newspaper industry, working alongside her late spouse for many years at different newspapers and serving as Associate Publisher of The South Alabamian. Her experience in publishing and community engagement has given her a unique perspective on the people, businesses, and organizations that help communities grow and thrive.
Linda first joined United Way in the 1990s because she believed in the purpose of the organization. Her continued commitment reflects her belief in serving others and strengthening the communities she calls home. To Linda, leadership means earning the respect of others, being prepared, setting measurable goals, embracing pressure, and leading through action rather than excuses.
Beyond her professional career, Linda remains deeply involved in her church and community. She serves as Treasurer at First United Methodist Church of Jackson, sings in the choir, and leads a food ministry program. She also serves as Chairman of the Historic Kimbell House Committee.
Family remains especially important to Linda. She has one son, Michael M. Breedlove Jr., two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She enjoys bringing her family together during the holidays, especially Christmas and Easter.
Linda believes Southwest Alabama’s future should include successful businesses, a growing population, and opportunities that allow young people to find meaningful employment close to home rather than leaving the region to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Through her service with United Way, she supports a stronger future where communities can grow and families can thrive.
United Way of Southwest Alabama is grateful for Linda’s continued commitment, leadership, and dedication to strengthening Clarke County and the communities we serve.
