Catherine Spann is an attorney with Burr Forman and a new member of the United Way of Southwest Alabama Board of Trustees. She joined the Board because she believes strong communities grow when people invest in education, health, financial security, and community resiliency. United Way brings people and resources together to create real and lasting impact, and Catherine wanted to take part in that work.
Catherine views leadership as a responsibility to give back in proportion to what she has received. When someone has the opportunity, experience, or platform to make a difference, she believes they have a responsibility to use it in service to others. That belief centers on investing in the future, especially children, and helping create opportunity and stability in communities where they can thrive.
Family sits at the heart of Catherine’s life. She and her husband are raising three children along with their energetic dog, Shrimpboat. One of their favorite traditions is watching the Fourth of July fireworks over Mobile Bay. Seeing the excitement through their children’s eyes makes the evening even more meaningful and something they all anticipate each year.
Catherine earned her law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. Outside of work, she enjoys boating, reading, and Alabama football. Spending time on the water with her family gives them a chance to unplug, reconnect, and enjoy the place they proudly call home.
United Way of Southwest Alabama is grateful for Catherine’s commitment to service and is pleased to welcome her to the Board of Trustees.
