United Way of Southwest Alabama has announced the nonprofit organizations selected as Partner Agencies and Affiliate Partners for its 2026 to 2028 Partnership Cycle, bringing together 61 organizations serving individuals, children, and families across Southwest Alabama.
The new cycle includes 45 Partner Agencies and 16 Affiliate Partners. Four organizations join United Way as Partner Agencies for the first time: Embrace Alabama Kids, HOPE for All, Rapahope Children’s Retreat, and The Family Center.
United Way conducts its partnership process every two years, giving eligible health and human service nonprofits serving Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties an opportunity to apply. The process supports United Way’s community impact model and its focus on Youth Opportunity, Healthy Communities, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency. The next opportunity for agencies to apply for partnership will open in spring 2028.
“United Is The Way reflects what this network makes possible,” said Justine Bixler, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Alabama. “No single organization can address every challenge facing our communities. By bringing together organizations with different areas of expertise, resources, and reach, we can strengthen the network of services available to people throughout Southwest Alabama.”
Organizations considered for partnership undergo a comprehensive review of their programs, financial information, operations, and community impact. Community volunteers and United Way leadership help evaluate organizations as part of the selection process.
Partner Agencies are eligible to receive designated contributions from donors and participate in United Way’s annual allocations process. Funding generated through workplace campaigns, corporate contributions, individual giving, and other support allows United Way to invest in programs addressing identified needs throughout its four county service area.
The Affiliate Partners program broadens United Way’s community impact by incorporating diverse services and providers into its network. The program represents a strategic expansion of the United Way network and gives nonprofits an opportunity to align with and contribute to community-focused efforts while increasing their impact, visibility, and opportunities for collaboration.
Affiliate Partners are eligible to receive designations from donors but do not participate in United Way’s allocations process and are not eligible for certain Partner Agency benefits, including the Alabama State Sales Tax Exemption.
For 100 years, United Way of Southwest Alabama has worked to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities. The 2026 to 2028 Partner Agencies and Affiliate Partners continue that work by connecting residents with services ranging from food assistance, housing, and healthcare to education, youth development, counseling, legal assistance, recovery services, and support for children and families.
