United Way of Southwest Alabama has opened the application process for its 2026–2028 Partner Agency cycle and invites qualified nonprofit organizations to apply for partnership.
Local 501(c)(3) organizations that deliver health and human services across Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties may submit applications if their programs align with United Way’s impact areas of Youth Opportunity, Healthy Communities, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency.
Both current partner agencies and nonprofit organizations interested in joining the United Way network may apply. Partner agencies work alongside United Way to strengthen the community by expanding access to essential services, improving outcomes for families, and addressing the region’s most pressing needs.
Applications must be submitted through Submittable, United Way of Southwest Alabama’s online application platform. A Submittable Walkthrough Guide provides step-by-step instructions to help organizations create an account, build an organization profile, and upload the required documents.
Important Dates
- Applications Open: March 9, 2026
- Applications Close: April 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST
Organizations must complete and submit all application materials by the deadline. United Way will not consider late or incomplete submissions.
As part of the application process, organizations must upload required documentation that includes:
- IRS Letter of Determination
- Most recent Form 990
- Most recent audit
- Current Board of Directors list
- List of programs and services
Some documents require signatures from the organization’s Board Chair. Agencies may download these forms from the United Way website and upload them to Submittable once completed.
Organizations that submit applications may be required to participate in a brief site visit with United Way volunteers. These visits typically last 30 minutes or less and give volunteers the opportunity to learn more about each organization’s programs, services, and impact in the community. United Way will provide additional details after reviewing applications.
United Way encourages agencies to begin the process early to allow time to gather required documentation. Organizations may add multiple staff members as collaborators within their Submittable account to assist with the application.
United Way of Southwest Alabama will host virtual office hours for agencies that have questions about the process. Office hours will take place Thursday, March 12 and Friday, April 3 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Agencies interested in attending may contact the United Way office to request the Zoom link.
