United Way of Southwest Alabama’s 2026 Charity Golf Tournament, presented by Georgia-Pacific and Williams, raised a record-breaking $35,510 on June 12 at Choctaw County Country Club. The sold out event brought together 27 teams with over 100 golfers, businesses, and community leaders from across the region to support United Way partner agencies and programs serving Choctaw County.

“This tournament demonstrates what can happen when businesses and community members come together to invest in their neighbors,” said Justine Bixler, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Alabama. “The funds raised through this event will help expand access to healthcare, food assistance, literacy programs, and other critical services that strengthen Choctaw County. We are grateful to Georgia-Pacific and Williams for serving as presenting sponsors and helping make this record breaking year possible.”

Following tournament expenses, United Way of Southwest Alabama will invest 100 percent of the proceeds back into Choctaw County through local partner agencies and programs. Approximately 3,370 local residents will benefit through healthcare services, food assistance, disability support, adult literacy programs, and early childhood education initiatives. The funds raised through the tournament can help provide more than $100,000 in healthcare services for uninsured individuals, food assistance for approximately 5,000 residents, disability support services for children and adults, adult literacy instruction, or free books for 1,000 children through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

“The continued growth of this tournament reflects what is possible when businesses and community members come together around a shared purpose,” said Sierra Skipper, United Way Manager of Regional Development & County Relations. “Every dollar raised stays local and helps support programs and services that improve lives throughout Choctaw County.”

United Way of Southwest Alabama thanks every golfer, sponsor, volunteer, and community partner who contributed to the tournament’s success. Their generosity made this record-breaking investment in Choctaw County possible.
