United Way of Southwest Alabama will host the 2026 Clarke County Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, sponsored by First US Bank, on Thursday, September 10, at the Grove Hill Senior Center. Doors open at 11 a.m., with the program beginning at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free, and lunch will be provided.

Clarke County native, FOX10 Investigative Reporter, and Anchor Shelby Myers will deliver the keynote address. The annual event will also recognize outstanding volunteers, businesses, and community partners, including the presentation of our annual volunteer awards and awards recognizing exceptional participation in United Way’s 2025 Campaign.

A graduate of Thomasville High School, Myers earned her degree from the University of South Alabama, where she studied broadcast journalism and sociology. She began her television career in Biloxi, Mississippi, first as a multimedia journalist and later as a nightly news anchor. While there, she developed a weekly program highlighting crime and cold cases and received an award from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers organization for her work.

Myers joined FOX10 News in 2018 as an investigative journalist and weekend anchor. Her investigation into a fatal fire in Prichard earned a second place Associated Press award. She later helped launch Good Day Gulf Coast as a morning anchor and now co-anchors FOX10’s 4 p.m. newscast. Readers of Lagniappe also selected Myers as the Nappie Award winner for Best Investigative Journalist.

For Myers, the opportunity to build her career close to her Clarke County hometown has special meaning, allowing family, friends and former teachers to follow her work each weekday. Outside the newsroom, Myers enjoys volunteering at her church, traveling, reading and spending time with her family. She is married and has two sons.

The Clarke County Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon provides United Way an opportunity to recognize the volunteers and supporters whose service and generosity strengthen Clarke County and to celebrate the workplaces and individuals whose fundraising efforts helped advance the 2025 United Way Campaign.

United Way also thanks the Town of Grove Hill for providing the Grove Hill Senior Center at no cost.
