10 Things You Didn’t Know About Our CEO
Every superhero has a different origin story – a cause that drives them to crusade for a better world. Despite these various causes, one thing remains constant: whether it be Batman, Wonder Woman, or the entire Justice League, superheroes and great leaders always do the right thing by serving others.
So, here is a little backstory about the superhero who is leading UWSWA and serving others in southwest Alabama:
I’ve served at various senior level positions in the following United Ways since 1988: Heart of Illinois United Way, Tarrant County United Way, United Way of Metro Oklahoma, United Way of the National Capital Area, United Way of Central Carolina, and Victoria County United Way.
I am an alumnus of Indiana State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in economics. Go Sycamores!
I have been married to my lovely wife, Rhonda, for 38 years and we have a son, Ryan, who currently lives in Texas.
I’m a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
I like to spend my free time tinkering on my antique car, a 1969 Chevrolet Impala Station Wagon.
I am a former United Way Worldwide & Annie E. Casey Foundation Fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
One of the ways I relax in my spare time is by gardening. One of my favorite plants to cultivate is spicy peppers.
A Texan by birth (Hook ‘Em Horns!), I grew up in Indiana. My parents have a farm stead in Texas that we maintain.
I am an avid Trekkie and have even attended a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas with my son. Live long and prosper!
My favorite superhero growing up was Batman and if I could have any super powers today, I would want to be able to fly.
