The United Way of Southwest Alabama will host its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Mobile Battle House Hotel & Spa. This year’s event will feature Tyrone Prothro, former University of Alabama football standout and current varsity coach at Jasper High School, as the keynote speaker.
Best known for “The Catch,” a breathtaking reception during a 2005 game that earned the 2006 ESPY Award for Best Play, Prothro gained national recognition for his electrifying performances throughout his college football career at Alabama. Although a devastating leg injury ended his playing days, Prothro has turned adversity into impact, mentoring young athletes and continuing to inspire others through coaching.
The Annual Meeting will also include a special awards presentation recognizing individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the Southwest Alabama community. Attendees will hear from 2025 Board Chair Audra Harper of Harper Technologies and 2025 Campaign Chair Chris Esfeller of Regions Bank, who will share highlights from the past year and a vision for the year ahead.
Admission is $150 per person, and tables of ten are available for $1,250. A limited number of tickets are available which include an exclusive meet-and-greet with the keynote speaker prior to the program, are also available. To purchase tickets, visit https://UnitedWayAM25.eventbrite.com.
