Austal USA Charity Golf Tournament Raises Record Breaking $336,233 for United Way
Austal USA (Austal) hosted their annual charity golf tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, Ala., March 12-13. For the past nine years, this event has benefited the United Way of Southwest Alabama and is the largest single fundraiser held on our behalf. We could not be more grateful for their annual support and look forward to working with them for years to come. The team at Austal, in collaboration with UWSWA staff, does an exceptional job recruiting teams, suppliers, and sponsors who provide the means to hold this incredible event. We would like to also thank Austal’s leadership and workforce family for supporting the tournament year after year. Everyone who plays, the sponsors, and suppliers are the people making an impact on this community. The proceeds go to fund grants for our 47 partner agencies and 12 internal initiatives centered around our key building blocks: Health, Education, Financial Stability, and Basic Essentials.
As part of their COVID-19 response, Austal provided over $100,000 to local organizations providing food, education, and financial stability in Southwest Alabama. The organizations included are UWSWA partner agencies – Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama and Feeding the Gulf Coast. This generous contribution also supported other local entities like Prodisee Pantry and the Mobile County Public School System. In addition to their financial support, they are providing masks to UWSWA partner Franklin Primary Health Center for their COVID testing site, the Medical Society of Mobile, and the Baldwin County Medical Society. The company shifted its 3D printing from printing ship and machine parts to printing reusable masks and tension relief straps for USA Health. Austal is committed to our community and we are proud to call them a partner and supporter of United Way of Southwest Alabama.
