Austal USA Charity Golf Invitational Raises $286,687 for the United Way of Southwest Alabama

Austal USA hosted its 10th Annual Charity Golf Invitational on Friday, March 12, 2021. Austal USA raised $286,687 and donated the proceeds to the United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) to help provide grant funding to 46 partner agencies and 11 UWSWA internal programs. Since the tournament’s inception, Austal USA has donated over $3 million to UWSWA. 
“Austal USA is proud to support organizations like the United Way of Southwest Alabama whose work is more important now than ever during the pandemic,” Rusty Murdaugh, Austal USA Chief Financial Officer and Interim President said. “We hope this year’s Austal USA Charity Golf Invitational can provide a boost to the United Way, its mission and our community.”

Austal USA’s $286,687 donation can provide 9,556 months in early learning services for a child from a low-income, working family. It can provide 57,337 meals for food-insecure individuals in Southwest Alabama. Low-income families can receive $11,467,480 in healthcare services, or 2,293 individuals seeking to reenter the workforce can receive job readiness and job search instruction.
