Community Supporting Community

Workplace Campaign

Each year companies across Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington Counties contribute to the United Way of Southwest Alabama through the Annual Community Campaign. The funds raised from the campaign are invested in the community through the allocation process and through our internal programs.

Workplace Campaigns

There are four potential elements of a workplace campaign. An organization may utilize any or all of the available options for their campaign.

Make a donation as an organization.

Provide an opportunity to employees to make a donation to the United Way.

An employee giving campaign is more than just a fundraising effort; it’s a powerful means to empower your employees to make a tangible difference in our community. By participating, your team will not only have the chance to give back effortlessly but also to engage in volunteer opportunities, foster stronger bonds within your team, contribute to causes close to their hearts, and feel a profound sense of purpose working for a company dedicated to local impact.

Establish an easy way for employees to make a pledge:

  • Payroll deduction
  • Donate by debit or credit card at https://uwswa.org/donate
  • One time gift of cash or check
  • Customized donation portal that provides digital options for payroll deduction and/or credit card giving

Becoming a sponsor enhances your business’s visibility by connecting you with the community through promotional activities. Sponsorships doubles the effectiveness of your charitable contributions while demonstrating a commitment to community engagement that employees and consumers value.

We welcome and appreciate in-kind donations. These donations allow generous donors to contribute goods and services instead of cash, providing valuable resources for our events, meetings, program materials, trainings, etc. Whether your organization can provide services, products, or other surplus goods, your contributions can make a significant impact. All in-kind donation are eligible for tax deductions, offering a benefit to our donors while they help strengthen our community.

Running Your Campaign

We recognize the hard work involved in running a successful campaign. We’ve broken down the process into ten straightforward steps to ensure your campaign is both efficient and effective.

  • Energize: Start by meeting with your CEO and recruiting a dedicated campaign team.

  • Confirm management support: Help determine campaign objectives and goals and write a letter of encouragement to join you in giving.

  • Review: Review past performance and calculate your goal.

  • Establish a campaign timetable: Plan all campaign activities to ensure smooth execution.

  • Engage employees: Conduct agency tours and invite speakers to demonstrate the impact of their contributions.

  • Publicize the campaign: Increase awareness and participation by promoting the campaign within your organization.

  • Conduct the employee campaign: Run the campaign with enthusiasm and strong commitment to foster a supportive atmosphere.

  • Report results: After the campaign, report the outcomes to United Way.

  • Wrap up and say thanks: Conclude with a sincere thank you to all participants, emphasizing their valuable contributions.

  • Live united all year round: Encourage ongoing community support and engagement through Individual Days of Caring or the community wide Day of Caring.
